using text and tables in ECHO

Bit of a silly one but how could i create a table or change font colour or even add in text before and after in the following echo??? it shows what it is supposed to but errors when i try to even put welcome befor it?

session_start();
echo $SESSION['userid'], $SESSION['username']
?>

[cretaceous]

echo "welcome ",$SESSION['userid'], " ",$SESSION['username'] ; << add semi colon at end

OR concatenate it by joining it on dots, like so:
echo "welcome ".$SESSION['userid']." ". $SESSION['username'] ;

you could also use single quotes throughout if you want
