How to stripslash in text content area

I am new to PHP and MySQL.

I have a problem with and unwanted backslash in my news article display.

When I add a news article and insert a word containing a comma,
e.g.: cat's, a backslash appears in the news display page with a backslash appearing before the comma, cat\'s.

I am currently using FCK Editor in the addNews page, but do not know how to strip the backslash from the display.

Does your PHP configuration have magic_quotes_gpc enabled? If so, I would recommend you disable it. If you do not have access to do so, then you could use this function.

Hey thanks. I called the function up in the addNews file and it worked in adding news but I'm not sure how to do the same on updating a news article.

Because when I update the same news article the backslashes appears again, regardless of whether it worked in the addNews file.

Can you help me here please?
