Retrieving part of a page from a different site.

I have a client who owns a franchise that will be associate loosely with his parent company.

He wants to have a personalized website that links to application forms that are on his employer's website and interact with their databases.

Although the customers data needs to be entered into his parent company's forms, he wants to know if I can mask their header so the form is more personalized to his specific franchise. Basically, I need to go and retrieve just part of a page from his employer's website and plug in some of my own content around it.

This strikes me as something that possible with PHP, but I am relatively new and don't know where to start.

Any ideas?

1. Find out if the parent company's form handler will accept submission from another site. If so, you might be able to submit your own form to them. (However, this isn't good security practice, generally speaking, so it's unlikely to be possible unless they've specifically enabled it, or they're not Real Good Programmers(TM).

2. If you can get the parent company's cooperation, they might have some way to help you out - their own API, WDSL service, or perhaps even database access ...

3. This could be a place where AJAX would shine, but it depends a great deal on the parent company's implementation.

Just a few thoughts. This isn't really a beginner project IMHO 😉
