Mysql and SQL Server

I have a client that has a Joomla website for a sport league. The community and the main site are Joomla however, the leaderboards and stats are asp. (Don't know why they mixed the two)

But here is my dilemma...

I want to design a script or some method that when a Joomla user creates a new account, it also creates a user account in the application that uses ASP.

Any thoughts? Can I even do this?

Normally, since login control is database driven, you should be able to accomplish this by inserting the applicable data to the DB table(s) used to to control access for the ASP app. Ideally, of course, it would be better to modify one or the other so that they share the same database and tables.
