Hi,
I am looking for long term relationship to develop and expand my websites.
Ideal case would be to work with same person (people/team) for the next couple of years or so.
Since this is an ongoing effort I would prefer to work on a shared profit basis instead of pay per piece of code so that involved programmers would be fairly awarded by results.

First thing: Immediate need is to redo a Custom WP plugin and rework current MySQL.
Data to be used/displayed on my various websites:
www.allreversephonelookup.com/
www.allreversephonelookup.ca/
www.allreversephonelookup.us/

Next: New site is to be created in the same niche – program under review – mock-up available.
Experience with reverse phone lookup scripting is desirable. HTML-5 and CSS-3 to be used for the new site and SEO friendly practices.

This is a challenging project and experience and meticulous attention to detail is of essence.

If you know someone that could be interested in working with me please forward this info.
If interested, please provide portfolio links with few sample or pieces of code.

Thanks,
Stan

To be frank, this is probably one of the least fair ways to compensate your programmers.

    • Because profit is based on success, there is no guarantee of any pay.
This basically means that your compensation plan is "maybe."
      .

    • Even if there is pay, the amount will depend on the success of the project: factors like final product popularity, marketing, and project design and management will all be bigger factors than anything your programmers do.
      .

    • Especially in the early stages of a project, much of the revenue is re-invested in marketing and development, which means that actual "profit" could be several years off, and much less than expected.
      .

Developers are not Investors. Paying developers for the work they do is much more fair than trying to entice them into investing in your project.

If you are serious about your idea, you should look for investors. If you can't find anyone willing to invest in your idea, why should programmers (who, as part of the workforce, don't generally have as much "extra" money as an investor might) be expected to?

Please don't assume I am attacking you or your project. The whole "share my profits" concept is fairly common, and many people don't realize any of the stuff I pointed out above - they think it's an honest, fair, and practical idea. It's not.

I wish you success, and invite you to contact me if you are able to revise your compensation plan. I'll be happy to discuss your project.

      traq,
thank you for your thoughts. They look almost right and might be correct in some cases. I really appreciate your quick and professional response.

If you don’t mind let me give you some facts below:

Project feasibility: Why I do believe in the success of the project? – Because I already did that / I was there (CB screenshots available). I started in this niche 31 Dec 2009. Few months later I reached position 6 on Google 1st page (out of 24M sites) making $300/week. I have done everything by myself. The potential is good and proven. I was doing html and perl for 18+ years. At the beginning of 2011 the game changed – we all know that. Now it is better using PHP unfortunately, which I am not familiar with. This is why I need professional PHP help.

Re proposal fairness: Please note that in all these years above I had to touch up and modify every piece of code that has not been done by me and I paid for it. Most recently I paid a PHP programmer in NY for a code that seemed to work somehow but when you look at the source it was messy and total crap – I just trashed it. Is all this fair? – let’s face it (simple) everyone must be interested and do the best he can for the success of the project (that’s from experience). I want everyone to be paid. The better work done, the better payment should be. I don’t need a piece of code that somebody thinks may do the trick. I need a coder to work with me. A coder that understands the goal, that sees it clearly and realistically. I personally work 14 hrs / day including weekends if necessary and I keep my promises. Yes there is a risk but things are foreseen to a certain point.

Also I am flexible: I would accept instalment payments (so people will not work for nothing) e.g. biweekly or by phases (if there are phases or cornerstones) with a reasonable holdback for eventual glitches. Please feel free to send me your proposal for the fee structure via online form on my site.

Note: the first task (as described in original post) will be paid directly.
