Does anyone know of a class/function/swap-table or equivalent that will allow me to swap the english spellings within a chunk of text for americanized spellings?
I've got a project where I'm building a CMS within a website and the client wants the US to see americanized spellings, even though we'll be populating the website with "english" spellings.
All the text is going into a db table, so I was thinking to save a duplicate copy of the text in each instance, rather than translating "on the fly" as the page is served.
But so far, although I've found some generic "rules" for altering the spellings (which naturally enough have exceptions...), I've yet to find anything even remotely resembling a definitive list which could actually be usable for a project like this.
Can anyone help?
