Hi let me start by saying i am a newbie, i am not familiar with coding, i have just hired a tutor on the side so im learning...
Right now i have someone coding a pretty complex real estate listing site..
Here is what my existing coder did...
If you upload a picture lets say a .bmp that is 1.6mb is size.. it leaves the file this size and then when you are doing a search if you right click and save the thumbnail the size of the file is 1.6mb
So this leads me to believe that there is not two directories, one for original image and one for resized thumbnail like there should be.
Here is the question...
Lets say a user uploads a .png or .bmp, etc is there any way to have the file automatically be reformatted to a .jpg just under 100kb?
Then from that new under 100kb .jpg can it resize it so the new .jpg image creates thumbnail around 30kb?
Immediately as i uploaded pictures i saw load time was hurt bad so i need to change this.
I am going to go back to the developer and tell him we need two directories something like this:
abc.com/images/large/picture1.jpg (main picture directory)
abc.com/images/thumbnails.picture1.jpg (thumbnail)
Also, if a user uploads a .jpg or .gif it should just leave it the way it is BUT still make a smaller file size thumbnail, how should this be executed?
I included a picture hopefully it will help make things alittle more clear.
thank you and i appreciate the help.
