update datefield only

Hi,

I have a field that is datetime format and I like to update the date string on that field only
eg: 2011-09-30 07:31:27 when update become 2011-10-30 07:31:27

update mytable set dateformated = '2011-10-30' where dateformated = '2011-09-30 07' ??????

How are you determining the new value for the date portion? Are you trying to manually assign October 30th, or are you simply trying to add a month to the previous date?

if adding one month:

update mytable set dateformated=DATE_ADD(dateformated, INTERVAL 1 MONTH)
