Hi all:
Not quite sure if this is a database issue or a PHP code issue.
I have a MySQL database and a MSSQL database (I am converting from ASP classic to PHP).
The following text is in a record on both databases. It is entered in the field just as you see it below by copying and pasting off of a web page:
The Pirates have moved their annual PirateFest indoor event up a month to December, meaning that tickets for the 2012 season will be available before the end of this year.
The event will still span three days, with the Friday, Dec. 16, session set aside for season-ticket holders only. The indoor carnival will be open to everyone else on Saturday, Dec. 17 (10 a.m.-7 p.m. ET), and Sunday, Dec. 18 (12 p.m.-5 p.m.). It will once again be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh.
Note that there is no html, no <p>, no <br> etc. Just pure text.
On the ASP page using MSSQL the information reads just as it is shown above. 2 paragraphs with a line break between them. Yet on MySQL it reads as a giant run on sentence:
The Pirates have moved their annual PirateFest indoor event up a month to December, meaning that tickets for the 2012 season will be available before the end of this year. The event will still span three days, with the Friday, Dec. 16, session set aside for season-ticket holders only. The indoor carnival will be open to everyone else on Saturday, Dec. 17 (10 a.m.-7 p.m. ET), and Sunday, Dec. 18 (12 p.m.-5 p.m.). It will once again be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh.
I prefer the MSSQL way!
On MySQL that field is set as varchar. On MSSQL it is set as nvarchar. Is there any setting in PHP so it reads with the breaks as it does using the MSSQL DB with ASP?
Thanks!
