Please help me with if date in and out for booking system

Hi,

Please i ll really appreciate any help with date in and out for booking system.

I have in DB:

RoomNumber: 001
DateIn: 2010-09-28
DateOut: 2012-09-30
Price: 150,00

RoomNumber: 001
DateIn: 2012-09-30
DateOut: 2013-05-02
Price: 160,00

If i search selecting the dates:
DateInSearch: 2012-09-28
DateOutSearch: 2012-10-03

Don't appear notting because the datein and dateout are not inserted in DB.

I am using:
if ( ($DateInSearch >= $rooms_frow["DateIn"]) && ($DateOutSearch <= $rooms_frow["DateOut"]) ) {

Please help me to fix it.

If those values are not stored in the db then you have no information to compare your search against. The solution is to store this information in the db to begin with.

You mean the dates to search should be in data base too ?

But i have only in DB:

which I took as representing the columns in the DB actually called datein and dateout.

However, assuming your data is in the db, your dates still wouldn't provide any results

And as you can see by the red output, some of the dates doesn't match with your comparison operators. For example, this is not true

2012-10-03 <= 2012-09-30

I am working in a booking system for hotel.

The hotel add the prices for each room by date from and date to.

My problem is only when is the transition date.

For example in DB its:
RoomNumber: 001
DateIn: 2010-09-28
DateOut: 2012-09-30
Price: 150,00

RoomNumber: 001
DateIn: 2012-09-30
DateOut: 2013-03-01
Price: 160,00

RoomNumber: 001
DateIn: 2013-03-02
DateOut: 2013-06-30
Price: 120,00

If the customer want booking the date in and date out:
DateInBooking: 2012-09-28
DateOutBooking: 2012-10-03

Should range the dates and plus the prices:
2012-09-28 = 150,00
2012-09-29 = 150,00
2012-09-30 = 150,00
2012-10-01 = 160,00
2012-10-02 = 160,00
2012-10-03 = 160,00

But i am using if condition to check the date in and date out to plus the prices.

But i am not doing the right way.

Please can you help me to find a best way to find and fix it ?

First off, perform this check using SQL code instead, so that you retrieve only relevant information from the DB.

	$DateOutSearch
);

This will give you 0, 1 or 2 matches. If both search match no room dates, then you have no matches which means that there is no way to figure out a price from the currently stored data. If there is 1 match, the entire range from the date search is within one pricing period. If there are 2 matches, you will then need to split up the pricing over the two different time periods indicated by the returned rows. In this case, you should also check that the DateOut for the first room matches the DateIn for the second, so that you do not in fact have an unspecified period in between or that the two periods overlap. This last statement also assumes that you order the result set by DateIn ASC.

I found the solution.

Make the condition to check the dates and with the prices is necessary to calculate the average, for example:

160 - 150 = 10 / 2 = 5 + 150 = 155 * 6 = 930

If the customer want booking the date in and date out:
DateInBooking: 2012-09-28
DateOutBooking: 2012-10-03

Should range the dates and plus the prices:
2012-09-28 = 150,00
2012-09-29 = 150,00
2012-09-30 = 150,00
2012-10-01 = 160,00
2012-10-02 = 160,00
2012-10-03 = 160,00
Total: 930

Which works only when the special condition that both prices apply to the same number of days is met. Try that calculation if the booking starts on 2012-09-27 or ends 2012-10-02. Suddenly you'd have 155 * [uneven number] = NN5. That is, the total price would end with a 5 instead of a 0, while none of the room prices ends in anything but a 0.

The only thing you need to do is check how many days when each price applies and multiply it with the corresponding price, thus
3 150 + 3 160 = 930
which would still work for non-equal day distributions, and it would also work for more than 2 different prices during the period
4 150 + 3 160 = 1080
