Pre install.php mySql form variables

Greetings,

I have a simple install script which writes tables to a database but I am looking for a way to take the standard host, database, username and password from form input and then write that into the install script before it runs.

Does anyone have some code that does that or something similar?

You'd do that in the exact same way you use a form to provide user input to a query. The only difference is that instead of using the input in a query, you'd use them in the call to new PDO('input here'); or new MySQLi('input here');

Just remember that if you aren't doing this locally, you should use a secure connection (HTTPS). Otherwise you'd be giving away username and password to your database if anyone is listening.
