PHP write to text file

I have a website running for a game server i run. Basically on the website a user needs to fill in a text box with their username and click a submit button that writes their username to the next line of an already created text file.

so if their username was coolguy123, it would write to the text file on the next line ex:
previoususer
1234man
coolguy123

I do not know anything about php. so if you could please put things in layman's terms that would be great!

[man]variables.external[/man] is the manual page that explains how to access data coming from external sources (such as POST'ed from a form), and [man]file_put_contents/man is a simple way to write data to a file.

i do not know how to write php at all. so i do not know how to use or where to put that in the php code

So... did you come here for recommendations on where/how to hire a programmer or were you instead expecting free labor?

I'm getting into Nascar, but the way my bicycle operates it doesn't run on gasoline... While I can still get around a Nascar track with it, my bicycle won't necessarily be the most efficient way of doing so.

I want to go down the block to pick up some eggs, but the way my Nascar operates, I can't use it without first actually getting it out on the streets and then making sure there are no cops around. While it is possible to take it for groceries, it's not necessarily the most efficient way of shopping.

Apart from keeping these things in mind, I will help you understand what brad meant in his initial reply. Either hire a programmer to do the job for you, or once you've learn enough to start coding yourself and hit a road block that you can't solve yourself you are welcome back to show us the code you've written yourself and ask for help about it.
