searching multiple lists

In Dans article he explains how to get an list to search another list, I have managed to use this in my own website, but would like to take it another step.

Lets say i have two separate tables (These are hypothetical)

Fruit (Table) Orange apple banana pinapple
Colours (Table) Red blue green orange yellow.

In the form both selections are check boxes so there are separate 2 list.

Now someone on the website can also search both these using check boxes. So you have 2 lists searching 2 lists trying to find matches.

What is the best way of achieving this?

Your example makes little sense. How do the two selections relate? What am I searching for etc. Am I supposed to get all blue cars and all brands of apples when selecting apple and blue, or should I get no results at all since there are no blue apples?

Why not use an example which isn't hypothetical. Real world examples tend to make sense.
