I have php 5.4.0 installed which does not contain any pear package
No go-pear.bat is available there. How can I install Pear package now?

There is an Installation section in the online PEAR manual. It offers a couple of different ways to install and use PEAR.

actually i don't have a go-pear.bat here. can you specify a link to download the same so that i can go for further installation

i downloaded the go-pear.phar which I read somewhere that it works.
when I executed the command
php go-pear.phar
it showed unable to load the php_mcrypt.dll
providing it with this dll file, an error occurred which showed
php4ts.dll is missing

I am using php 5.4.0... please help

php5ts.dll is there on my system... does it substitute for php4ts.dll
if yes how to make it use php5ts.dll

Actually, for versions of PHP 5.3 and later there's the Pyrus package manager.

hey please take a look at this one :

I downloaded pyrus.phar .
Used the command php pyrus.phar install package_name

there is an error which said no php4ts.dll found (even though I'm using php5 & php5ts is already there)

i downloaded the php4ts.dll & put it to C:/php/

I restarted the Apache server & entered the command again

this time it says " The procedure entry point_zend_list_delete could not be located in the dynamic link library php4ts.dll"

What should I do now? Does php5 really need php4ts.dll even having php5ts.dll of its own

This sounds like it may be caused by an earlier mistake you made:

This sounds like you downloaded the wrong version of php_mcrypt.dll; extension files must be matched up with the PHP version you're running. Thus, you can't download files made for PHP 4 and expect them to work with PHP 5. Same goes for PHP 5.2 versus PHP 5.3.

A bigger problem is that your PHP installation should have come with all of the necessary files. The fact that you're missing some suggests that you have an incomplete installation of PHP. As such, I would suggest you remove your current installation, download PHP from php.net, and re-install it from scratch.

It neither "needs" it nor is even compatible with it.

"Again" ? Is this the same package you originally downloaded to install PHP? If so, how did you do so? Did you not extract all of the files from the .zip archive?

Regardless, if you've got the same version that's in that zip archive, then you could probably just extract the extensions folder (and perhaps any missing .dll files from the root of the PHP folder) from that archive into your current PHP installation directory.

There are many freeware tools out there that can do this for you; just do a Google search for something like "how to calculate file hash" or something similar.

It's the same version of PHP, only the source was compiled with debugging symbols enabled (and probably with some compiler optimizations disabled). You'll probably never need to use this (especially if you don't know what debugging symbols are 😉).

It doesn't. Nothing should ever require a specific 'php_*' extension file - it just requires that the mcrypt extension be present (regardless of how that happens).

That's not an error message from PEAR, that's from PHP itself. It suggests that your php.ini file has an "extension=php_mcrypt.dll" line in it somewhere.

Same as above. In this case, it seems like you meant to load 'php_pdo_sqlite.dll' instead?

It worked well thanks

But when I installed the package & chose the default path C:\php, an exception raised

no filesystem permissions to modify PEAR directory C:\php.config

Is there any specific command to give these permissions
