PHP user details

Hi there

PHP newbie so be gentle!

I have a project i'm working on, ecommerce system, I want the system to remember the user thats logged in so it autofills in the logged in user's details, address etc (which are stored in MySQL database) into the empty text area's during checkout. Having trouble understanding how to go about doing that.

Any reason not use one of the existing ecommerce system available? While it may be a learning project for you when it comes to money, you don't want to mess anything up.

I could do that. But this system isn't anything official. It's really just a mess around.

well then you need to start by building a a user management system

You'll probably have a user ID for each user, so when the user goes to the checkout page have the script pull the information from the database based on the user's ID, and then populate the fields with the retrieved data.
