Have you tried something manual to convert one as a test and see if that actually works as you think it will? I suspect it may not, as basically what you're trying to do is embed a video file (the GIF) into a wrapper format. It won't be changing anything, in the same way that it wouldn't if you attempted to 'convert' a .jpg into a .swf.
i tryied to convert the Gif file in SWF and loaded the swf in runtime.. So, it's perfectly reproduced, but the same GIF called into the swf in runtime, cause slowdowns to the project!
I explain: flash dont' support animated gif if loaded dinamically (at runtime), then i need to use an external class called GIFPlayer for do this.. This class converts the frames of the gif in bytearray but this operation cause unsustainable slowdowns with gif of large dimensons... this happen because Flash isn't designed for support GIF, it's instead designed to support external SWF... Treating the gif such an SWF, it will added to the project normally and quickly...it's sure!
If you want to proof of this, i will prepare an FLA file.
