simple backup & restore script

I need a simple script php/mysql for database backup download and restore. I have google'd this topic and i got lot of examples, but the problem is i cant understand most of scripts. If u have understandable backup scripts pls share here. Thanks in advance.

If you're using phpMyAdmin it has backup and restore mechanisms built in.

Ah, I see. In that case I'd use the example Brad suggested.

And to restore the DB from that back up you would issue a LOAD DATA INFILE query

Huh - guess I don't pay attention (or I've never had to restore a backup rather) and thought that mysqldump could be restored with load data infile... My bad for misleading information.
