htaccess help please.

The .htaccess file was accidently deleted from the server. Service provider claims there are no backups.
Here is my problem. I need an htaccess file that will turn:
xxxxx.com/?action=view&cat=10391
into
xxxxx.com/Ship-Ready_Boxes/inv/10391
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

I'm guessing you're asking about the other way around, e.g. the user requests "/Ship-Ready_Boxes/inv/10391" and the htaccess rule automatically rewrites that to "/?action=view&cat=10391" before processing the request?

If so, can you describe more about the general transformation you're looking for? It's hard to tell based on your single example, but here's a guess:

RewriteRule .*/inv/([0-9]+) /?action=view&cat=$1

However, I found one more problem...

The url for xxxxx.com/cart/atn still brings up an error. I have many pages like this as well, each ending with atn.

the direct link for these pages looks like:
xxxxx.com/?action=cart
Can you give me a rewrite rule that will turn each page from
.com?action=xxx to
.com/whatever is needed/atn_?
