Deny Direct Access

Please I need help on how i can deny access to my inclided files and also folders that contain some php files.
am using (Deny From All ) in .htaccess file but when i redirect to a file in that folder, it doesn't work.

Need Help urgently.

file/folder permissions when you right click on them in whatever FTP thing your doing? maybe?
