[RESOLVED] can you help me figure out this date and time format?

Hi there guys,

I'm getting some data from an array and one of the things I can get is the last accessed time, which I'd really like to have. The problem is, I have no idea what to do with the string that I'm receiving.

For instance, here's the string for one of the members:

1341378161000

Can anyone tell me what format this is? For additional yay points, could someone tell me how I might convert it to the format that I store it in, which is datetime format like so:

2012-06-01 14:53:37

Looks like a Unix timestamp with millisecond resolution. cf. [font=monospace]date('Y-m-d H:i:s', $stamp / 1000);[/font]

Though you might possibly have trouble with that if running in a 32-bit environment. 😉 (In that case, you might need to either use something like substr() to snip off the last 3 digits, or one of the arbitrary precision math extensions.)

.....Nope, the division saves the situation: while [font=monospace]$stamp == 1341378161000[/font] is a double, and therefore so too is [font=monospace]$stamp/1000[/font], the latter is small enough to fit into an integer (for values of [font=monospace]$stamp[/font] prior to 2038...), so the integer cast required by [man]date[/man] goes ahead without a problem (to within half a second - the cast truncates instead of rounds - but that only matters if the last three digits are anything other than [font=monospace]000[/font]).

The division is crucial - font=monospace1341378161000 == 1348364648[/font] and bang, that's two and a half months right there!.
