Member system

Hello all,

First of all: I like to code but at this point I am not really good enough to build a safe member system from scratch by myself. That's why I was wondering if any of you have already been using an available php member script which they know of to be good and safe.

I am searching for a member script which has a good base but which I can develop further. Obviously when I enter it into google I can find dozins, but I'd like to hear of some people which script they used/know and their experiences of it since I mainly don't know what is a good and safe script or not.
Like I said: there are so many that it is hard to know which is a good one...

The script should have the real basics: login/register and an own page where people can put text on it/upload a word document.

ps, I know, read tutorials etc, but I have to go quick on this one, I just ask for some user experience 🙂

Honestly, the best thing to do is write your own. That way only YOU control scalability.

... which might actually be the worst thing to do, unless you know that you possess more a) skill and/or b) time than that which was used by the developer(s) that created an existing solution.

And that is exactly why I asked if there was a good one online somebody knows of so I have a solid basis to go further on 🙂.

I think coding from scratch by myself is not the best idea at this point...
