Help with MVC basics

Hi guys,

I'm being tested on MVC for a job I'm applying for which they are aware most applicants aren't very familiar with MVC and have given us time to revise prior to this. They've listed Zend, Symfony and CodeIgniter on the job spec and although they haven't said which MVC the test will be on, I need to get up to speed as quickly as possible. I picked CI, as it appears the easiest of the 3 to learn, but was wondering if they all work pretty much the same code wise? Also would you imagine CI would be the chosen MVC they'll test using if most applicants are not up on MVC? Or do you think they could very well go with Zend due to its popularity? If anyone could explain with code examples that would be helpful. Lastly what are the main parts to look at, reading/writing to database and pulling in pages such as header and footer?

The Model-View-Controller architecture isn't tied to any particular implementation. It can be and has been implemented in all sorts of different ways in all sorts of different languages employing all sorts of different paradigms.

You might as well be asking if books are all pretty much the same binding-wise.

Then methinks that, unless they're talking about Multiview Video Coding, they need to find a better source of applicants 🙂
