back goruond of an image

This is how i am using edit image to direct to edit page. Image doesnt has any background. But it shows white as background colour. Page background colour is grey. how can i change this white background colour to grey in edit image?

What image editor are you using?

I use GIMP (gimp.org) --- it's a matter of making sure you've got an alpha channel, selecting the background color ("select by color"), and deleting it.

I use photoshop cs. I have already deleted background. (In 4toshop background is displayed as ash and white squares. )

There are a few different types of PNG - from memory I think you need to save as PNG-8 for transparency to work in browsers. Also, you will have problems with older versions of IE, which can't handle PNG transparency at all.

From the look of your images, they might be OK saved as gifs instead, in which case - no transparency issues at all.
