Finding words containing numbers and letters

Hello,

Building an aviation website, and ran into a problem. I have this string,

'TRALR4 BCE J100 EKR MBW RAP J158 ABR CESNA JUVAG JAKEY VIXIS PENDO SIBKI TULEG PRNCE IGN IGN9

and what I want to get is J100 EKR and J158 ABR out of that. Basically I want it to search for letters with numbers and then the word after it, for as many times that it is in the string. I don't know if it's possible or not, but I can't figure out the preg_match expression to use, if that is the correct function to use.

Can you be a bit more specific with what you mean by "letters with numbers" ? Is it just one letter? And does the "word" after it have no restrictions/format? If so...

/[A-Z][0-9]+ \w+\b/

would result in an array of matches like:

Array
(
    [0] => Array
        (
            [0] => R4 BCE
            [1] => J100 EKR
            [2] => J158 ABR
        )

)

That expression comes with text not containing that.

so it comes out as TRAL MBW RAP CESNA JUVAG JAKEY VIXIS PENDO SIBKI TULEG PRNCE IGN IGN9

If possible, I also don't want it detecting the beginning and the ending words.

Woops - I forgot a '\b' word boundary before the first letter.

EDIT: If you want the matched sequence to be surrounded by spaces, then you'd want to use a space rather than the \b word boundary (which includes the start and end of the string).

So what will the final expression be? I never really invested time into expressions because I never had to.
