PHP books about MVC framework

Well I was wondering if anyone can recommend a really good PHP book about any existing MVC frameworks(not Zend though, I am not good enough to learn such complicated framework yet). I found the books about CodeIgniter and CakePHP way too obsolete, the programs were still written in old-fashioned PHP 4 code! So yeah, the bottomline is that the code uses PHP 5. Thx.

I see there is a book called PHP: Pro MVC coming out in October. It looks like a real nice book, but it does not really introduce and tutor you on existing PHP frameworks. I can definitely try to create my own framework with this book, though it will be better if I practice with Cakephp/Codeignitor/Symfony first.

I have PHP 5 Objects, Patterns, and Practice by Zandstra.

Also, it's worth looking at Zend Framework and CodeIgniter. Their source code and projects that use them are good for MVC.

I finished reading the first 13 chapters already, the database mapping patterns are quite intriguing to me and I am starting to get a feel on how to design object oriented database system. The book does not talk about MVC though, and thus is kinda unrelated to this topic?

An object persistence framework does not make for an object-oriented database system. (And then there are object-relational database systems which are sort of a compromise between the two.)

It does, however, describe the Front Controller pattern (IIRC), which is essentially what an MVC pattern implements.
