Unset not unsettling

No matter what I try, I cannot get a session variable to zero out.

I have this code at the top of the first page that starts the session and at the top of last page:

session_name("PassTech");
session_start();
if(isset($_SESSION['ticktock']))
  unset($_SESSION['ticktock']);
?>

I have 'ticktock' set to 2 on the last page. I want 'ticktock' to be "" at the start of that page. However, 'ticktock' is set to 2 all the way back to the first page.

I don't understand your flow - do you mean that code is on both the first and last pages? Where on the last page are you setting the variable to "2", and how are you getting from the last page to the first page (or, for that matter, from the first page to the last page)?

Could you be a bit more explicit about the process? Basically, something that someone else can run that shows just what you mean?

(As an aside, you don't need to see if a variable is set before unsetting it.)

I'll also add another question: How are you determining that the variable is still set to 2? If you're simply clicking the Back button in your browser, you're likely viewing a cached version of the previous pages maintained by your browser.
