I've just about had it. I am in deep and can't swim. I search through w3schools & Mozilla developers Forum and can't figure out what to do. Here's the script I stole::

Here's the trigger:

echo '<p id="LaunchTime">test</p>';

and it ain't firing.

What I am trying to accomplish:

Verify login info;//works
show user data; //easy in PHP
5 sec timeout; //the script that is the current headache
clear the window; //One problem at a time
launch another web page;

Just giving an HTML element an id of "LaunchTime" isn't enough to call a JavaScript function named "LaunchTime".

If you want the setTimeout() to run as soon as the page loads, just run it when the page loads.

</script>

Is your redirect conditional (i.e. does it only happen under certain circumstances, or does it always happen, no matter what)?

As-is, it seems to be an "every time" thing - in which case, you really don't need javascript to do it.

or, better yet, have your server send the HTTP header (php example):

header( 'Refresh: 3;url=http://localhost/lookupsplashtest.php' );
