I've got a virtual machine running RHEL 6.3 at rackspace.com. By default, it looks like the posix functions are not defined:

PHP Fatal error:  Call to undefined function posix_getpid()

Can anyone tell me if there's a yum package I can install to obtain these functions? Or must I recompile PHP by hand?

    Without knowing what repo(s) you're using... have you tried using yum to search for such as package?

      I tried

      yum search posix

      which revealed nothing. Some google searches yielded some tips but neither of these worked:

      yum install php-posix
yum install php-process

      I don't recall the exact behavior but I seem to recall the install either claiming the latest version was installed or that the pkg was not found.

      This appears to have done the trick. I'm not sure it's necessary to do both, but I am up and running:

      yum install php53-posix
yum install php53-process
