preg match issue

Hi all,

I have an issue with the following code, I want to be able to allow spaces in the persons name. However, using this line is still causing an error when I run it with a first and second name (which has a space in it):

 if (!preg_match('/^[_a-zA-Z0-9-]{3,32}$/', $frm['namec'])) $re .= $this->clsite['comments']['eror_name'].'<br/>';

Any ideas what is wrong?

The character class in the regexp pattern doesn't contain a space character, thus it makes sense that it wouldn't match a string containing a space.

Meant to post the following two attempts that haven't worked:

  if (!preg_match('/^[_a-zA-Z0-9-\s]{3,32}$/', $frm['namec'])) $re .= $this->clsite['comments']['eror_name'].'<br/>';

and:

  if (!preg_match('/^[_a-zA-Z0-9- ]{3,32}$/', $frm['namec'])) $re .= $this->clsite['comments']['eror_name'].'<br/>';

Neither of these are working..

Both of them worked fine for me:

var_dump( preg_match( '/^[_a-zA-Z0-9-\s]{3,32}$/', 'Brad Grafelman' ) ); // int(1)
var_dump( preg_match( '/^[_a-zA-Z0-9- ]{3,32}$/', 'Brad Grafelman' ) ); // int(1)

Thanks, I am still getting my javascript error so will need to investigate further..

This code has nothing to do with Javascript, it's PHP which is run on the server, and is never, ever seen by the browser.
