Tell a friend with teaxtarea!

Hello everyone!
Does anybody know how to implement in this form <textarea> ?

I have tried to do that but it doesn't work for me

I includet in html:

And in php I included this code:

$message = $_POST['url'];

then I included this in mai body

mail($recipient_friend,"A message from $senders_email", "Dear $recipient_friend,\n\nYour friend $senders_email, $message found our site very useful, and thought you would be interested.\n\nPlease follow the link to view our site:\n(URL address blocked: See forum rules)\n\nThank You\n\nThe your_sites_address.com", 'From: "your_site" <your_email.com>');

But it doesn't work 🙁

I think you'd need to post your full code here. $_POST['textareaName'] does work.

You should not be using that mail script. I believe it would be fairly easy to abuse it to send spam. You should validate the emails to make sure they are in fact email addresses and nothing more.

In fact, you should NEVER use anything at all that comes from that particularly horrible website (the schools site). Their information is / has often been outdated, outright dangerous to use (vulnerable to exploits etc), incorrect, going against best practices etc. Moreover, when notified of this, they have simply ignored all please for improving their code. And in this case, "improving" doesn't even mean "make it good", just "make it not suck terribly".

And the reason that people have made an effort to make them change is in no way because the site is good in other ways. It's simply because they are using a name WAY too similar to W3 aka WWW or in full, Web Wide World consortium which have provided us with web standards for several years. Which means there is a risk that people automatically assume any information from the schools site is of decent quality.

And it's getting more and more annoying when you search for a particular php function and the first 5 hits that come up are - surprise surprise - NOT php.net, but the school of crap one.

I not just a risk that people will assume it. I can tell you honestly and humbly, that I thought they were related, in fact I thought it was RUN by W3C. Thanks to this forum and a thirst for accurate knowledge I've learned that not only is there no affiliation but also that so much of the information is just plain wrong.

I fell into that trap too, I really did think it was an official arm of the W3C. I have read right the way through the W3fools website though, it's very informative and ocassionally funny. I recommend reading that before taking anything on that other website as golden.

I wonder if we might filter posts for anything referring to the god-awful-schools-site-that-must-not-be-named? Like add it to the word censor list?

+1 and auto-removal of any links leading there, so as not to help boost their ranking (which is already absurdly high for something awful).
