join two table and print one result

Hi,
i have two table for article and setting. in article table i put id,title,date ..etc and in settings table, i have row with name featuredarticle and value put id of article with separate comma for featured articles. now i need to list/print my featured article only. how to ?
TABLE articles:

	ID | TITLE | DATE | PUBLISH
	1
	2
	3
	4
	5

TABLE settings / row featuredarticle : (in screen u see title / value)

1,7,16

NOTE: i now this bad design, but i custom the any modules of cms And I have no choice.

You're right, the design could definitely be improved through the use of normalization techniques.

However, consider using MySQL's FIND_IN_SET() to join the two tables together.

i work with JOIN and FIND_IN_SET Method but i see error. how to fix this error?

Error 1054: Unknown column 'b.featuredarticle' in 'on clause'

Well, are you sure the name of the column you're trying to access in the "settings" table is truly named "featuredarticle" ? It's not "featuredArticle" or anything else?

Okay, well that screenshot suggests that there is no such column called "featuredarticle". There does appear to be one called "title", however, and (at least) one of the rows does appear the have the value 'featuredarticle' in that column.

And so the column name is NOT featuredarticle, but rather the value for a row in the column Title is "featuredarticle".

Think about what you're wanting to do in words - the SQL should come easily after that. The JOIN condition you're wanting is (in words):

The b.title column contains the value 'featuredarticle'
AND
The value a.ID is contained in the set at b.value
