Hi guys, I would like to know which books I need in order to learn modern php and mysql. I just dunno which book to start with and where to go from there. Can you guys please help me?
i wanna learn php and mysql
I personally think Jason Gillmore has done a good job. Ummm too be honest though, there are a lot of great education sites you can learn from.
Lynda
Treehouse
Khan Academy
youtube.com: jream, phpacademy, zend, lots of search queries, etc
Funny thing, I just started a thread asking why this site has slowed down and I just referenced a few places to get educated besides here. That being said, this place is 100% great! people helping out and teaching.... such a great site!
One thing though... don't skip any step. Learn the basics and move forward.

Thx, I've got both books. Can u plz tell me where to go from there? From each book or at least from the book u know about?
Read and experiment and ask questions here if need be. Create a project and work your way through it. Get all Pete Rose with it and dive head first. Have Fun!

Hi Kuro,
I'm also a person who feels more confident when I have an actual book in my hands. You might consider the books by Larry Ullman. They are highly rated on Amazon.com and I've had some success using them myself. He has a book on PHP, another one on MySQL, and a third which teaches both. If you're a beginner, you might want to buy the one on PHP and the one on MySQL. If you have some background already, you could try the third one, which uses both.
Another great thing about the Ullman books is that you can ask questions about them at his forums. He often answers the questions himself, but other people might provide answers too.
