change file format after upload

Hi,

I am using the jqeury-file upload to upload members photos but it's uploading the same file with the same format. However, I want to save all photoz in PNG format.

How can I do this on the server side? and is it enough to just rename JPG, GIF or BMP to PNG?

No, because the name of the file has nothing to do with its content.

However, I want to save all photoz in PNG format.

Seems to be little point in doing this; if they were jpegs originally (and if they were photos) then converting them to PNG will just result in bigger files that faithfully reproduce all the jpeg compression artefacts present in the original.
