Did you manually tell Komodo where your PHP install and/or user files are (Edit->Preferences->"Default PHP Interpreter" and/or "PHP Directories")?
No, but native PHP functions seem to be okay (most of the time - sometimes they don't work either). My issue is when scanning projects/custom stuff that doesn't work. Works in one version, updated, stopped working. Went back, worked fine. A few people have reported this bug in their report system when they made the jump to 8.5, though they claim it should be fine now in later updates (8.5.3). It's not (for me, anyway). One of the other comments in their bug system was to completely uninstall the software and reinstall it and it should be okay (something to do with a botched update). That didn't work either.
Additionally, in my office there are four of us who use Komodo Edit. Everyone has installed 8.5.3 on a clean Windows install except me, and I am the only one who has full code intelligence working (disparaging the claim a new install should fix it). We all have clean Windows installs but I was the only one who installed 8.0.2. The other three are very complacent and just kind of shrug their shoulders, but it severely reduces my productivity and just plain annoys me, which is why I went back a version.

Version 8.0.2 is the latest version before they moved to the 8.5.x branch, if you're looking to use Komodo 8 instead of 7 (code intelligence works great in 8.0.2).

That may be why you haven't noticed any problems; it seems to appear when working with projects that have custom functions and large APIs (native PHP functions seem to work most of the time, but not always).
