Desktop Software to interact with MySQL/MyODBC?

Hi;

My use of relational databases started out a long time ago with a course on MS Access. When I learned about MySQL I also discovered how to connect to my familiar Access interface via MyODBC connections and I've been doing this for years.

Now I am facing a quandary as I have to start investing in some new computer hardware (Windows 8.1 stuff) and all of my legitimately purchased licenses for MS Access (I think v2003 is the most recent I own) are spoken for on other machines. Anyway, as pretty much the ONLY thing I do with Access anymore is use it to interact with MySQL tables, I was wondering if there is a similar type of application in the open-source world that has a similar look and feel.

Any suggestions?

I know PostrgreSQL has an admin console that includes query-by-example (if that's the sort of interaction you're referring to) - but that's not much help.
Conversely, I don't know if MySQL's own workbench has QBE; but it does provide a GUI.

I've never grokked Access much; I've never seen two installations (read: users) whose work in it even appeared to be the same software. So I probably don't know what you're looking for.

If you're not already aware, PHPMyAdmin is a web-based toolkit for MySQL, and an archaic program, MySQL Query Browser (which is precursor to MySQL Workbench that Weed mentioned) was a favorite of the IT department here in years past.

Heidi...WOW! I just installed it, looked up the IP of the host of my website and it just WORKED! I am glad that I was already familiar with phpMyAdmin as it is a bit more like that (but seems MUCH faster and more complete) and that I have learned a little SQL over the years. Once I get to know it a little better, I will be making a donation to the author. I will also try out MySQL workbench to see what that is like.
