best for true or false, Yes or No

hi,

I want to have MySQL fields such as is_administrator, is_active, is_blocked which will be true or false, yes or no, negative or positive, or whatever name you'll use for it..

I would like to ask what's the best field type to use for such requirment? and how to deal with it in PHP?

U can use an 'enum' field for a simple user system. Then you can add different roles later.

enum('default', 'banned', 'admin') and so on...

I usually use TINYINT with 1 for true and 0 for false. In fact, in MySQL you can define it as BOOLEAN, which ends up just being an alias for TINYINT. (See https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/numeric-type-overview.html for more info.)
