Creating a Refer-a-Friend link?

I need to create a refer-a-friend link where the registered user can give their unique link to any friends. Each time a friend clicked on the link, the person will get a notification something like "[x] friends have clicked your link" or "[x] friends have joined" where [x] is the total number of person who clicked that link
