$_POST Truncates Multi-Word Variable

When I do this using $gamename = Cactus Canyon

echo "<a href=submitascore.php?gamename=$gamename>$gamename</a><br/>";

I get this:
http://submitascore.php?gamename=Cactus

So, it's dropping anything beyond the first space character. I'm guessing it has something to do with single and/or double quotes being used incorrectly, but I've not figured it out.
