Why does this code not take my new smaller size?

list($width, $height) = getimagesize($filename);
$newheight = $height;
$newwidth = $width;

do {
	$newwidth--;
	$newheight--;	
} while ($newwidth <= 122);

$thumb = imagecreatetruecolor($newwidth, $newheight);
$source = imagecreatefromjpeg($filename);

[font=monospace]$thumb[/font] is only going to be one pixel narrower and one pixel shorter, unless the original image is already less than 122 pixels wide (in which case ... well, try it and see).

And, incidentally, if you're going to rescale the image so that it fits that thumbnail, then I hope you realise it's going to be seriously distorted. Especially if the height of the original is 122 pixels less than the width.
