I don't think he is, since all the image based CAPTCHA's have already been cracked. With creative Googling, I've found prebuilt scripts for teh kiddies to just plug and play. Why would he reinvent the wheel?

To OP, Tesseract is highly regarded and there's a php wrapper for it.

I suppose I was just hoping to hear him refute my allegation with a specific example before helping.
