Installation of windows 7 freezes

Hey everyone,
I have a problem regarding windows 7 installation, while in the process of installing gets started very fast but when it comes to completion..... Its just freezes out... And its just frustrating.. Can anybody suggest me whats the reason behind this and how can I resolve this problem??? Any help will be highly appreciated..

Have you verified that the hardware is not at fault? MEMtest for RAM, disk drive low-level format testing, etc ... ?

It might also be making progress, but only very slowly. Any idea how much RAM you've got or what your chip's clock speed is? If the computer is old/slow, then it might eventually finish.

Hey sneakyimp, my computer is of old version and have 500 MB RAM.

You really do NOT want to run Win7 on that ...

That's less than half the minimum system requirements specified by microsoft. It might eventually get installed, but I wouldn't recommend trying any further.

You might consider installing some variant of linux instead? Modern linux distros have nice graphical interfaces like mac or windows. This article suggests a few:
