Join to a table twice

JOIN countries on matches.Team1ID = countries.ID
WHERE matches.GamePlayed = 0 AND matches.Pool LIKE '%' 
ORDER BY matches.KickOff DESC

I have this code and it works fine.

I want to get the country from the countries table for the Team2ID as well as Team1ID. If I add this I get an error

JOIN countries on matches.Team2ID = countries.ID

What can I do?

Use aliases to refer to the two uses of "countries"; otherwise the dbms can't tell appearance of "countries" refers to which use of the table.

Weedpacket refers to table aliases. See mysql JOIN syntax[/man].

The idea is that you can refer to a table in your query by specifying alias after the tablename:

SELECT t.* FROM my_table AS t

In this example, t is an alias for the table my_table. You can refer to the same table numerous times in a single query and give it a different alias each time. You can also leave out the AS for a shorter syntax:

SELECT t.* FROM my_table t
