I don't claim to know how much you'd need, but realize that your upload speed will be the max download speed for your users.

Yep. That's why I can an speed test, it's for the silly social media/blog thing I have been building right now I'm on godaddy it's shared hosting an I don't have full access to all functions I.E can't set intervals ect.

Seems almost like cheating though. Currently that idea I had is getting bigger than anything I have dealt with, this would have some structure that I'm totally lacking

You could get an unmanaged VPS from DigitalOcean at 5 USD a month.

I had heard of them, would 5 usd be stable though seems kinda cheap even now I pay £10 a month

I use DO, I have 5 droplets with them, and 2 of those are the $5/mo version. They work just fine and steady. Very very satisfied with Digital Ocean myself.

lol I know a few people have said good things about Digital Ocean, Angelina Fabbro and Alex from codecorse, I'm just thinking I want to be 100% independent too. If I ever get this website finished it's for a close group of friends and family, still need to figure out how to get it white listed in China
