To the Englishman (or Scotsman, I suppose), we're all "Yanks" ... I think that came about during WWII. The US usage of the term pre-dates that branding by 80 years or more ... I actually bear no ill will towards Yankees ... actually, to some of my cousins from the Deep South I are a Yankee 😉 ... but my friends from Vermont or Michigan might very well take exception to that.
As for what Fox tells you, there's just like everyone else in that they want ratings, so the stuff that brings in viewers (and therefore sells advertising) is what you'll see. They go after the people who don't like CNN's POV, so the more conservative elements watch FOX. Look at the last few US election maps ... red states, FOX, blue states, CNN ... you might see the beginnings of another Civil War, except most of us know it'd be over too quick unless the military establishment is on the same side we are, and it's not obvious to much of anyone where they'd be (there was a good quote I read someplace quite a while back ... that we took up arms against each other and a government only to become, afterwards, a people who couldn't imagine taking up arms against the government or each other or why we did it in the first place ... [something like that]).
And don't get me started on the current election cycle/season. Sure feels like lose/lose to me. That's actually kind of familiar (since the 90's, as far as this old man is concerned), but this time "lose/lose" should be in ALL CAPS.
As for the comments about Mexicans and African Americans ... good character is good character, and bad character is bad character. For most every bad character you see in the news there are 10, or 50, or 100 or 1000 good people of that group who aren't anything like that. We've got plenty of people who've been here for generations ("white?") who have bad character too. If some "other ethnic group" has a slightly higher percentage of bad characters in it, it's mostly due to breakdown of the family, and/or economic causes which have at times, and perhaps understandably, been more prevalent amongs groups of people who haven't been here as long or were discriminated against (generally) in the past (as opposed to being loathed specifically by much smaller groups of people of bad character, which still happens). And yeah, there's that brainwashing stuff going on over here too. We've got ourselves so stuck in our screens all the time we don't think too well, or even relate too well to other people anymore....
