Room for improvement?

Just curious if anyone has suggestions to improve this?

I'd like to see a bit more at the top of the page via text/images to give a general idea of what your blog is about and provide a bit of "branding" for it. Not being much of a visual designer myself, I'm loathe to try to get any more specific -- I just feel it needs something more there. 🙂

I always struggle with design, but I see your point I'll try to figure something out i.e look at what other people done
