Filter extensions in PHP7 and MariaDB

In PHP 7 have any of the Filter extensions changed since PHP 5-2?

By "filter extensions" do you mean the filter functions? If so, the only change I see is that the filter*array() functions include a new optional add_empty parameter since 5.4.0, which should not be a problem with older code.

Those are what NogDog is talking about. They are part of the Filter extension, being the different filters provided and used in the functions he linked to. To see what has changed since PHP 5.2, which is when the extension was introduced, see the relevant changelog entries in the manual (i.e., [man]filter.filters.sanitize[/man] and [man]filter.filters.validate[/man], and [man]filter.filters.flags[/man]). To see what has changed in PHP 7.0, see the same changelogs for 7.0 entries.

Not seeing the relevance of MariaDB here.

Once again the dynamic duo have ridden to my rescue.

P.S. I have looked through the filter functions, and I can understand why there is no specific Filter function for phone numbers. There are too many formats used by too many countries.
I suppose that the best we can do is to ensure that the number is sanitized and that only numbers are acceptable.
