I learned this weekend that Google is retiring its old free tier of GSuite email hosting service, which I am using for a few domains. I'll either need to upgrade to Google Workspace or find some other (hopefully free) way to host email for my domains.

To be clear, I'm not talking about getting a gmail account, i'm talking about using google to host email accounts for mydomain.com. IMHO, Google's email hosting is the gold standard, and $3/user per month is not very much, but if you have multiple accounts this can add up quickly. A suitable replacement would ideally offer a way to
1) migrate all my email currently sitting on google's mail servers
2) connect via browser to check email
3) connect via mail client (thunderbird/iphone mail/etc) to check email.
4) support SMTP connections so my web apps can continue to send outgoing email.

I was wondering what you experienced PHPBuilder folks might be using to host email for your domains. It's a real chore -- and a thankless one -- to run your own mail server. ARSTechnica published a handy guide some years ago, but my experience has been that it's a lot of work to keep it running and block all the spam, etc.

not certain about this one, but i've seen a recent advertisement for Fastmail offering comparable feats to gsuite. good luck!
