how can i tell why PHP isn't connecting

Ok did everything from source....seem to go smooth. but i can't seem to get php3 to connect to my sample database. what can i look at to see it acctual installed the right way. the phpinfo thing works. just not mysql_connect or i don't no if its $query or $results or what.....this is killing me 3 days going 🙂

i m also facing the same problem.
in my case phpinfo() does not show the
mysql database entry in the extensions displayed.

so when when i fire mysql_connect() i get
fatal error:call to undefined or unsupported function

i y have solve the problem then it will be realy nice of y if y share yr knowlege.

Well, what i did is uninstall anything and everything that had to do with mysql, apache, php. Then I went to rpm.org and got the latest and greatest, of each one of them. and intalled it. I tried the tar ones but i end up with the same problem of not being able to connect.

I just want to know that how can I uninstall MySQL from my machine (Red Hat Linux 6.2). rpm -e --nodeps mysql command didn't works.
