php on apache

Hi there:
i'm tyring to put some php code on our webserver, however there are some points that i wanted to make sure of before i do that:

1) our website is on an apache server that's located in a remote location (i.e. a service prvider)

2)Therefore i only have limited access to the server, (well through ftp), to the folders that are necessary to support out websites;

Given the above can i use php for our website development, or do i have to first make sure that they have installed php on their apache server,

Hello there,
I run a small site as well, and I use php for it. This is my personal experiance with php, but I had to have the admin install the module and have it loaded on the webserver for me to use PHP. If you only have FTP access to ther server, you are going to have to ask the admin of your webserver to install it for you, you cant install PHP on that webserver thru FTP.

i have the same situation of u
1.)open a text editor ,
type
<? phpinfo(); ?>
then save it to test.php3
and also test.php
then put it to the folder u have (under the www folder,probably) using ftp.
then fire up your broswer,type
www.yourserver.com/test.php3
www.yourserver.com/test.php
then,if u c a screen containing the info from php,u have php installed,also ,it will also display whether other modules,such as the support of mySQL is enabled or not,so ,good luck

You should make sure that your web server provider supports PHP. If not, then find another web-ISP.
