Dreamweaver UltraDev and PHP add-on

Since Dreamweaver UltraDev is extensible and has a java-script thirdparty API, is anyone planning on doing a PHP interface? I'd love to see this done, maybe even be a part of it, but I would deffiniatley buy a PHP add-on (for under $200).

Anyone got any news of this... or interested in writing one for free or profit?

Nope, I ended up going into bigger projects where the code from Dreamweaver was put into libraries... so I had no need for a Dreamweaver/php code and therefore never made anything for UltraDev or Dreamweaver.

If anyone else gets into this, is into this, or is selling this... give me a shout. I'm too busy to write one at this point in time, but maybe in the future... 6 months or so.

As far as I know, DreamWeaver is not as extensible. You cannot add new languages.
However, we're developing a new generation code generator that can generate database-driven ASP, JSP, PHP, C++ and most any other languages.
I'd be interested in finding someone who could help us test it. Basically, Beta users who'd receive it for free.

I found 2 PHP extentions for Dreamweaver, but I haven't tried them yet. You can find them but searching "PHP" in Macromedia's DW extentions'web page.

I am working on getting support for PHP4 into Ultradev 4. I have some working code that implements about 1/2 of UD's feature set in PHP (on Windows). Ideally I'd like to see a server model for UD that fully supportsPHP. If you want to take a look at release 0.01, the link is at:

There is also a reference panel for PHP in the queue at the Macromedia Exchange. When it gets reviewed and placed on the exchange, I will post a message here.

This site has made it easier to create MFX Simple Server Side Behaviours, theirs an example in asp but it can easily be done in php as well.

Code Charge isn't good when you use Linux or Unix on your server with mySQL.

Why it works well. The generated code. For development use windows with any of the php development kits available for windows.

It is better to use the tool that will do the job than being a fanatic about one platform or another. Use what works and get the job done!

No it\'s just because PHP is open source and Macromedia only support it if there\'s a company behind it. Ofcourse it\'s also because Macromedia and Allaire are 1 company now and they want to push Coldfusion. And let\'s face it ASP is no real treat for Coldfusion, Php on the contrary..
